Anytime is a good time to go to Town Forest. It’s
a really great place to go out exploring close to home. It’s full of a variety of paths with loops making it easy to go as far or short as you’d like. Also, the trails are generally easy, even with a layer of snow, so it is definitely kid friendly. My best friend, Bridget, and I had a ton of fun exploring it today (with Cooper too!)
It’s really dog friendly, and it’s a great place to let the dog off leash because of all the land for them to run around in. Even Cooper did really well being free roaming around in the woods, until right when were about to go to the car when he bolted off finding a group of backpackers with a couple of dogs. At that point, I had to wrestle him to the ground in front of a group of Boy Scouts and drag him back to the car. But other than that he did really well and I’m sure other obedient dogs would not be a problem.
In August, I had visited Town Forest but the good thing about it is that it has such a variety of trails that every time you go it can be like the first time because there are new paths to explore. It’s also great just because of how local it is and how easy it is to access. It might not have jaw dropping views but it’s still fun to be exploring in the forest for a little while. It’s definitely a great place to get outside if you don’t want to commit a whole day to adventuring and just want a simple 30 minute walk.
